Born in Braila on December 1st 1931, Johnny
Raducanu comes from a family with a long musical tradition dating
back to the 17th century.
His musical career started with playing the upright bass at the
age of 19.
Among his countless colaborations outside
Romania were Art Farmer (trumpet), Slide Hampton (trombon) as well
as Fredrich Gulda (piano) and Guido Manusardi (piano).

In 1987 Johnny received an Honorary membership
to the "Louis Armstrong" Academy in New Orleans.
He is the founder of the Romanian Jazz school,
and during a musical career spanning over half a century, Johnny
discoverd, nurtured, and trained several generations of Romanian
Jazz musicians. Leonard Feather named him "Mr Jazz of
Romania". Johnny Raducanu is the President of Romanian
Jazz Federation.
